Malawi

In Malawi, One Health gains recognition as a pivotal strategy for health challenges. The Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) coordinates national One Health endeavors. Ongoing efforts aim to shape a National One Health Policy, promoting synergy between health, agriculture, and environmental sectors, especially in managing zoonotic diseases. Surveillance systems strengthen against ailments like rabies and anthrax, with investments in One Health-focused research and capacity building. The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) leads the COHESA project, led by Catherine Wood and Chiku Mtegha spearheading initiatives to bolster the country's capacity in addressing One Health issues. These actions reflect Malawi's dedication to the One Health approach in confronting health challenges.
